I love Bear Grylls, I wish he would do a show in the style of Survivorman though. With that show he shows you how to survive by yourself and stay put while Bear literally hits the fucking ground running.

big fucking deal.

going out on your own, solo, with no cameramen and doing all the camera work your self > bear grylls and his legion of camera crew who eat sandwiches and sleep in hotels with him because they don't actually venture that far from civilization.

in other words, bear grylls can go fuck himself and his fake ass survival show can die in a fire.

even though bear and his camera crew do that bear could still smoke les out of the damn water. he could go out on his own with his own cameras and probably survive easy

I think the only advantage that bear has is that he is probably a better hunter, but les comes across as the common joe smoe and shows the average person how to survive even if that means going without food for a few days in various real life situations that people may actually find themselves in.

case in point:

where as bear is like "okay i'm going to hike down this mountain and rough in the wilderness for a couple of days. ohh, did you hear that, I think it was a bear, oh no, it was just a moose. hey look a canyon, let's hike down into it for no fucking reason and then hike back out of it." ohh, who fucking cares.

i agree lummo. its just more entertaining to watch someone do that then watch someone sit around and do nothing. sure Survivorman is more educational and Les Stroud is more of a badass, Man vs Wild is just more entertaining, and thus is a better television show.

but thats just my opinion

I think their both pretty smart in the area of survival, the shows are just different. Les is probably more helpful to the common man, and Bears show is like a quick not incredibly detailed version of that show. Les does do a lot more work than Bear, setting up all those cameras, running back and forth to them, ect. But I'm just as sure that Bear could easily do all of that. They really need to make a special edition of the show and let him go by himself.

Either way I enjoy both shows.

you have obiously no idea what kind of training those guys go through (only spetsnaz are more badass). i can pretty much guarantee you, in a real life situation, mr. Bear would eat those pussies for breakfast in any environment. probably literally

this is really starting to look like all those black-metal-elitists-circle-jerk-fan-club about who's more "tr00" or retarted stuff like that. this shouldn't be about who's more "tr00" because he uses less (or no) crew or does more legwork or drinks more piss; it's a fucking tv-show, and it should mix entertainment with other "stuff" and Bear has the competition beaten by a long shot.

les is more "educational"? so fucking what?! books are more educational, documentaries are more educational, seminars are more educational. if i want to learn something i'll stick to those. when i'm watching tv i expect to be amused. les stroud only manages to bore me to oblivion.

just my 0.02$

read: credentials don't mean shit when you're a douchebag. also, I don't really care.

bear comes across as being on the same par as bobby flay (probably the worst chef and most pompous ass on the food network) and will ferrell (when I found out those two had teamed up, I had to wonder if the vortex of suck was about to end life as we knew it). my two cents.

Holy shit, Bobby Flay...

Definitely one of my least favorite people. He's such a tremendous douche all the time, it just bothers me. I and I fucking hate that almost every episode of Iron Chef is with him nowadays. Thing is, he's not a bad chef at all. He's just so wildly overhyped that it can seem that way. Unless you're talking about the really "professional caliber chefs" not "people who went to culinary school," in which case yeah he is the worst.

on principle, i agree.

but what really pisses me off is that most of the criticism that bear gets is "les stroud films himself, bear has a crew. and bear stages stuff". no shit, sherlock, it's a fucking tv-show, not a documentary. i really don't understand what's the big deal. i have seen maybe 10 episodes of his shows, and maybe 3 of survivorman and neither really struck me as a douchebag or whatever. the only conclusion that i drew were: bear is a showman, les is fucking boring. btw, was there a specific episode or something that triggered your hate towrds teddy bear or is it just some "general behaviour" or whatever that ticks you off?

i have no idea who that is (we don't get much american tv here :redneck: ) and i guess i'm lucky i don't :redneck: (and yes, that episode with ferrell was atrocious, to say the least)
