croatia. but i live not even 40km from Trieste so i went shopping there quite often and watched a lot of italian tv (mainly 'cause the signal for italian tv was always much stronger than the croatian ). also, in our region we speak in dialect that's quite similar to italian (istro-veneto), so i think i'm quite well versed in the language of your peninsula

Trieste used to be cool, but now it's pretty lifeless.

Croatia is really good if you want to come here as a tourist every now and then, but to live here... No.
