Devil's Advocate: how is finding the skeleton of a "lemur-m.onkey" a missing link?

I have no idea. The news is making this a really exciting find.

I thought we'd already found the missing link. Christ, we've found enough "ape-man" skeletons to make a pretty cool vampire movie-set from.

It's to do with the bone structure. The skeleton shares a lot of unique similarities human anatomy, more than any other that has been discovered before. I fail to see how this will silence creationists though, it's not like throwing this little piece of proof onto the enormous pile that already exists is going to help.

Exactly. To creationists, this is just one more variation within primates that has nothing to do with anything else.

All this "link" does is create two more holes.

If that wasthe case, there wouldnt be such a fuss. They are saying that it could represent the base of the anthropoid branch of the evolutionary tree, which to some people is in fact a big deal.

Second part: oh.

Finding a fossil with ape-like traits (opposable thumbs and, importantly, nails rather than claws) but also more rodent-like traits is massive because essentially all mammals descend form rodent-like creatures.
