I was going to post this a few weeks ago but I didn't think anyone would care.

Seriously fuck these guys. I had high hopes for this

I remember at one stage this was being developed using the unreal 1 engine

They should just sell the rights to the title to a good gaming company.

I read an article about the game a while back, there have been made like 4 separate games that were all scrapped. Duke Nukem has become a synonym for failure to deliver the goods.

I am absolutely furious over this.

well, you wont have to worry. The game was in the completion stage and they´ll probably sell the rights to some bigger company.

Hopefully, some company worthwhile like Rockstar Games...or maybe even Id Software...may get the rights to Duke.

I don't think id Software would buy it, doesn't really fit into their category but I guess you never know. Rockstar Games would be a great choice.

i remember when it was still using the quake2 engine



anyway, take2 owns the rights and they're suing 3D realms because they didn't make the game. let's hope they get what they deserve

damn, that looked fucking awesome...yeah, hopefully someone picks it up and finishes the damn thing

take2 owns the publication rights, not the rights to the actual game assets and duke nukem branding. as i understand it, the lawsuit is effectively trying to have those transferred over to take2 to recoup the money they invested into the project a while back.

In case if the game is completed, here's to hoping that some cool duder from the now-defunct 3D Realms will upload the entire game in some FTP site for us to download.

3D Realms Not Dead Yet, No Thanks to Take-Two

And so it continues.



After shuttering its doors last week, Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms is apparently back on its feet. Well, sorta.



"While 3DR is a much smaller studio now, we will continue to operate as a company and continue to license and co-create games based upon the Duke Nukem franchise," the developer said in a press release.



The way 3D Realms tells it, though, Duke Nukem Forever – finished or not – won’t be able to release until Take-Two and 3D Realms kiss and make up. Previous agreements between the two companies have put Duke in his current predicament, but according to 3D Realms, it’s not like Take-Two hasn’t broken an agreement before.



"Take-Two never paid 3DR advances or any signing bonus or any other funds related to DNF, up until July 2008, at which time they paid $2.5m in connection with another agreement for an unannounced game," added the company. "This is the sum total Take-Two has paid 3DR in connection with DNF."



That lack of funding effectively killed the game’s development cycle last week. Take-Two allegedly attempted to right the sinking ship by offering to acquire the Duke Nukem franchise and 3D Realms, but due to such stipulations as “no upfront money, no guarantee minimum payment, and no guarantee to complete the DNF game,” 3D Realms refused.



Now the two companies are gearing up for a long, painful court session, which at this point, just seems like Fate giving us a big middle finger for ever hoping Duke might see the light of day. Is some news better than 12 years of no news? In this case, we're not so sure.

Just sell the damn Duke franchise to some other game company that will actually give a shit about the Duke.

That's a big problem with that game. It kept dragging on then having to switch engines.

meh, duke nukem forever doesn't look great at all imo, as far as I've seen it... plus I really didn't care for this either.
