i teach the little ones

how's that treating you, it seems terrifying to me but what line of work isn't these days i guess

this particular school sucks. massive and widespread behavioral problems with the children

i am going to try and get into a different school when the transfer portal opens up a little later in the season

basically the job would be great if it weren't for the fucking customers

but overall, like, as a concept, sure whatever

i taught all through grad school and i taught for a minute after that and i give absolutely zero fucks about getting up in front of people and saying words

also, before i was making near zero dollars. but now i am making way more than near zero dollars!

so,

i don't like dollars very much but in a world that requires them it is better to be pulling in more than zero, i salute your teachery and sick income gainz

i don't like them either and i like them even less when i have student loans to repay forever and ever to dust we return

yeah i don't know what i'm going to do with my student loans, i really wish i could just move to another country, renounce my citizenship and simply forget about them

unfortunately i don't have a rich hard-on bearer job so other countries don't have a use for me, stymied again by the fuckass dollar

you could change your identity and walk off into the great void of empty possibility

that is always a choice

i've thought about it but it seems very hard to do and probably requires a degree of discipline i am incapable of cultivating

my little sister became a high school teacher last year. so far at the end of each semester she has called me crying and agonizing over whether or not to keep the job. one kid spread rumors about her giving the kids vapes (because apparently the girls boyfriend said my sister was attractive) and it got her put on probation despite there being no evidence

she also tells me the kids are absolutely brain dead. says they can't write a paragraph, never have pencils or paper, and don't even like watching movies in class.

i also am on the pathway to becoming a teacher

it is the best worst option for me right now, as i must look after my sick mother, teenage sister, and pave the way with security and metal prowess

on the one hand, by most conventional measures, we seem to be finding out that handing a couple generations of kids off to the tech industry to raise was not sound social policy. but when you consider the shareholder value, well, who's to say what's good or bad really

More specifically a huge chunk of the blame goes to the production of/consumption of short form content and the instant gratification from social media. Like, at least if you got that dopamine fix from video games of years past, you at least had to work for it a bit. nowadays everything, even a lot of games, require no effort and are practically handed to you - and it's only going to get worse with this out of control AI shit. I know there will be some outliers as there always are, but the majority of the younger generations are absolutely fucked in a way that I don't think people who were critical of TV and video games of decades past could even fathom.
