I thought this was rather interesting as it's something that's been bothering me for years now when watching a lot of modern movies.

i like people who can explain this in cinematic terms instead of my lazy "the people who finance films are cheap" crutch. which is correct, but not very interesting. there is a funny convergence happening where films now want very badly to be videogames which themselves have always wanted very badly to be cinema, the end result of which is the degradation of both mediums.
his positive examples would also be a fantastic starting point for viewing recommendations - really a lot of phenomenal picks in here
also some neat synchronicity, i watched burden of dreams last night and have fitzcarraldo on deck for this afternoon

There are a number of videos on this now, and I'm glad more people are talking about it.

and they never get dirty, they never sweat, their hair never gets messed up, they don't bleed, and they most definitely do not get 'hurt'.Corpsepyre wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025, 21:26This is definitely a problem as well, espeically in newer fantasy. It's like they just got the suits tailored and went to the most expensive barber right before filming.
like, I get that it's hollywood and all - but it's gotten to be so absurd with how perfect everything has to be all the time. if a movie is meant to be immersive... it just isn't.

That video is a little long but I will listen to it while lying down. For me, I like to visit the cinema but I keep forgetting what I've seen. That can't be right. This year we had Nuremberg
Tomorrow Barry Lyndon. Lately the theatres here have started to show more of the old stuff, I want to go for that.
