i stopped shopping there once it became as expensive as whole foods but for worse products

so now i just go to whole foods instead

I stopped going to Giant (also owned by stop & shop!) years ago. It was hands down more expensive by a good clip than our other local spots and it was all self check out except for maybe 1 actual human at a register.

I generally go to Food Lion or Sprout nowadays. But I'll pop into Harris Teeter for something if I have too. Pretty sure the closest food of wholes is like 20-25 minutes away down in Annapolis.

in australia i buy my meat at a local independent butcher. veg and sundries at a local independent grocer. grains, pulses, nuts, from an organic online shop (I roast my own cawfee beans, mill my own wheat into flour, use a lot of seeds and shit for extra protein etc.). industrial products like bin liners, cling wrap, stuff i can't buy anywhere else, i get at the national duopoly corporate hellhole stores.

mind you i take care of two houses. in thailand my mother-in-law cooks dinner every night. all the other shit just gets bought at the most convenient and cheapest location.

Trading independently is really good for the business in the area. Some might say it could hurt the more structured business. Sounds like good healthy commerce. That's cool as shit you do what you do, luke.

i do have a local butcher in walking distance that i get my meats from but little else in the way of non-corporate selling things entities

I use a veggie shop way outside of town. They've got the best tomatoes.
