Similarities I picked up in Angel Heart film starring Rourke and DeNiro released in 1987 and Planescape Torment PC game released in 1999. I used to think the latter was a brilliant originality but seems the former needs to be given that credit instead.

They both contain an amnesiac main character who:

- has wronged many people in a past lifetime
- got others to partake in his past dirty work
- tries to escape his fate with a ritual but could not succeed
- receives flashbacks of some memories, or receives memories from someone else
- is being chased by a powerful entity
- used and then discarded a lover
- operates in a curious, puzzling and foreign seeming setting or environment

"stroke me, for i wish to orgasm" they're not specific enough to be direct things but certainly thematically resonant, moreso than other amnesia films

Read Falling Angel as well. It's the book Angel Heart's based on. As much as I love the film, the book's on a different level. Same thing with The Exorcist and its follow-up, Legion.

Just finished two Philip K. Dick novels, back to back. Now reading a philosophical sci-horror first contact story named Blindsight. It's fucking amazing. :santa:
