Yeah it's been done before I'm sure, but time has passed. Do you keep your phone for a long time before getting a new one?

I keep it until it has to be replaced. 4-5 years seems to be the average for I.

Till I start having problems with the battery or it breaks in some other way.

my current phone is now 4 years old and the one i had before it went probably 4-5 years as well. i've been thinking about upgrading but i'm not in any rush, it works fine and the battery still lasts all day on normal usage

Only reason I upgraded to my current phone is because my cat knocked a glass of water on the old phone which caused the microphone to stop working. Phone itself still worked for web browsing and what not but it had limited storage and I felt it was time to get an upgrade regardless. My current phone is smaller which is something I realized I wanted and it also has 512gb of space where as my old phone was only like 16gb :redneck:

I just get hand-me down iPhones from family members who are always getting the latest models for free because of their subscription plans. I can't remember the last time I spent money to buy a phone. :redneck:

My current one is an iPhone 11 Pro with 512GB of space. So far so good, it does everything I want it to do efficiently.

I could easily do without. Hate the fucking things.

So, in answer, keep em until they are dead.

before smartphones i seemed to go through mobile phones at a faster rate for some reason. i also dropped my sony erikkson in the toilet once :redneck:

smartphone wise, i have gone, starting in 2012, huawei something -> nokia something -> nova 3i -> samsung galaxy something -> pixel 3a -> galaxy s10e

so six phones in 12 years, i guess that is pretty chewsome

Until something happens to it or it starts acting up too frequently. Typically I'd say 4-5 years if I can help it.

Same as everyone. Until the current one breaks or the battery is useless. Just upgraded to the iPhone 15 in February. Before that I had an iPhone 11. Every 4-5 years seems about right.
