before i turned 18 and moved out of home i had already lived in something like 15 houses and none of them had air conditioning, but my dad's place had it, when he bought a house in 1997ish

also my first two cars did not have air conditioning

nor did the cars my mum had when i was growing up (4 or 5 over those 18 years)

but back then the culture was different, i mean my schools didn't have air con either, no one did, you just went to the beach or stayed home if it was too hot

only place i've ever lived with central AC was my apartment in south carolina

it's bizarre to me that people actually live without ac but i've only ever lived in the hot soup
