April 12th was official opening. The year is something that people have argued about. I fully 100% stand by it being 2001 while some say it's 02.

I also joined in 2002 or 2003 - before Heretic came out.
People posted some picture of Pete behind the drumkit and Trey with a moustache.

My timeline might be a bit fucked only because I was around for the pre-morbidangelchat times.

Necro originally hosted it on his website before he went and got a proper domain. I just remember plenty of late nights when I was still in school, which couldn't have been the case in April of 02.

It had to have been 2001 because I joined the spring/summer of 02 and I remember lots of folks already having sizeable post counts.

i joined mabb on july 25th 2002 to download in their darkened shrines, which came out in august of 2002

at that time, mabb was three months old

the way i know that is because necro's joined date in his profile was april 12, 2002

the forum technically opened the day before but he had to fix some of this and some of that and so on that day there were neither posts nor people to post them

so technically mabb's 20th anniversary was april 11, 2022

but practically mabb's 20th anniversary was april 12, 2022

and functionally neither date matters because today is july 13, 2022

though it is also july 14 in some parts of the world

the reason i went with 2001 is because there is an internet archive page from october 2001 for morbidangelchat.net - HOWEVER, that is only necro's landing page, if you remember it, that says "click here to enter". so not the phpbb itself, which has the first archive from april 2002. so morbidangelchat.net and some kind of forum did exist in 2001 but maybe not phpbb. does this mean there is a mabb v0.0 ? or -1

necro had an MA fansite back in 2001, but the forums didn't go up until '02. that's where you're getting mixed up. dusto is correct, i am correct. i didn't post on forums at all until i joined the sailor scouts and that was in spring of '01, way before MABB came into existence. i had played casually on their servers a few times between then and when gateways came out (found them via the liner notes) in october of 2000. i found MABB because necro linked it on our board just after launching it. registered and posted for like a week and then mostly dodged it until mid '03.
