they aren't removing the dislike button, just the dislike count which is actually useful

Yeah I think they are doing this to help large companies and politicians. It will hurt trolls like Trisha Payatas though.

this is an incredibly shitty change. eventually all we'll be able to watch on youtube is family friendly ads

i really hope people step up in the comments to let other people know if the 15 minute toilet repair video i'm about to watch is actually useful or not

There are alternatives but the problem is as soon as they get big google buys them out.

the only people who can compete with google at this point are microsoft, amazon, etc which is not great..

anyone else entering the arena will inevitably go the same route anyway. everything becomes too expensive, you need advertisers to foot the bill, advertisers start making demands, rinse and repeat
