having written as much as you have, do you still write for pleasure or anything personal? have you run into that 'passion as work' conundrum where the work kills your passion?

i rarely write for pleasure but not due to any creative fatigue or lack of passion; i just don't have enough time for it. the one basic, major, galactically important skill that i should have learned in grad school and never did was how to force other obligations to the side to make space in the day

however a few months ago i started another writing job where the work is more attuned to my tastes and whims, and that job is quite satisfying

so, 80-20

Can we start a petition to have dustos name changed to this

lets keep the writing talk going dusticallus. as someone who (i assume) has studied literature deeply, do you find yourself cringing a lot at lyrics and what not? i've written a decent amount of lyrics in the last two years but sometimes it feels very immature and i feel painfully aware of how bad i am

and sure, most lyrics are dumb as hell. most writing of an artistic or cathartic sort is not very good. that's no reason to not do it

i have to dance around shit so much at work with how i talk to people that it has spilled over into my personal life i can't just assume true things to be true anymore
