I feel uncomfortable celebrating anyone’s illness. Maybe I’m a wimp.

you can celebrate the misfortunes of the rich and powerful, it's good when bad things happen to them. and the worse the things that happen to them, the better it is.

I know it is iften self inflicted and karma is a bitch. I don’t think anyone who “celebrates” would do it to the non powerful since that’s just being an asshole and most people are not that openly cruel.
I don’t feel sorry for him, I didn’t feel sorry for Rush, I just personally feel weird celebratong or acting happy.

what sucks is that this means absolutely nothing to him. that shithead was one of the first to get vaccinated. so now he'll downplay it even further after recovering from it and dumb people will eat it right up.

Vaccine has been shown to lessen effects of covid. I think of it like a flu shot people who are eligible still don’t get those either.

Ofcourse he's going to be fine, because he himself is vaccinated. If he wasn't the result could have been worse. Perhaps people aren't taking that into consideration when adopting a dismissive attitude to the precautions for this virus. While top politicians regularly exploit retrograde anti-medical populist tendencies for short-term political mileage, they themselves don't fuck around with their own health.
The issue is his messaging to the public that it is ok not to get vaccinated and his opposition to compulsory vaccinations, even while he himself is vaccinated and demonstrably benefiting from its protective effects. The second issue is that he caught coronavirus because he was going around mask-less while he was setting up laws to oppose mask mandates. Had he worn a mask, he might have not caught it, and not given the virus to others around him. It's an absence of leadership in favor of individualist anarchy.
Both issues indicate why it is important to be vaccinated and wear masks, which conservative followers of Abbott fail to understand, thereby prolonging the pandemic.

Isn't that how we got rid of polio? You had to show your kid had the polio vaccine or they wouldn't be admitted into school. It really shouldn't be this divisive at this point when there is literally no upside to not getting it. Especially when the virus has already killed as many as it has and continues to mutate because of spreadnecks.
I mean, you can't even let your dog into daycare without showing proper immunization records. This should be no different.
i am not going to dispute that everyone shoud get it. but i dont think it is helpful to be saying things like "there is literally no upside to not getting it", because that just isnt true.
i am in favor of adults having to prove their vaccination status before being admitted to certain places.
im not certain about forced vaccinating of peoples children. even if i think it is best for the children. there are already plenty of diseases that have vaccines available, that people refuse. i used to think that it shouldnt be the parents choice, but i dont know. where is the line drawn?

benefits outweighing risks is not the same as there being only benefits and no risks

I know quite a number of people who had very mild cases to a couple that actually had to be hospitalized. 4 people in my life died from it. Those that survived have had varying side effects One of my coworkers who had it earlier on in the pandemic still has shortness of breath as they likely have permanent lung damage (this was someone who spent their free time prior doing jujitsu so not just some lard ass).
So yeah, I’ll take my chances with the vaccine that has shown some serious positive results thus far and no serious side effects. Thank you very much.
I do wonder if these plague rats will start to wise up once insurance / the government no longer covers treatment if your unvaccinated though.

Even your hero Ttrump got vaccinated. Maybe you should be asking yourself why all these anti-mask, anti-vaccine, pro-conspiracy theory politicians and media personalities are they themselves vaccinated if it’s not serious or “a hoax”.
