las vegas is in the middle of the desert, it is not a land of abundance. it only exists because they pump in shitloads of water from out of state. it gets its water supply from the colorado river, which is also true of much of the southwestern US, and eventually there will not be enough to go around (increasing demand due to population growth, dwindling supply due to both overuse as well as persistent drought conditions in the region)

There's too much marketing for Las Vegas. All the movies, songs and promotions about this place made it appear more impressive than it actually was. I stayed at Caesar's Palace too. Wasn't impressed.

almost went a couple of years ago for my grandpa and his twin brother's 100th birthday party - had to cancel at the last minute when my mother in law died the day before we were gonna fly out.
If i had gone, the plan was to not spend much time in the city itself, but rather get out and explore the nearby national parks and what not. Vegas itself has very little appeal if you're not big into gambling.

I’m going in September, its only boring if you make it that way. There’s a lot of niche tyings to fo like Im taking my brother to the Pinball Hall of Fame and the Neon Graveyard.
Also state parks not that far if you’re into that.
Not a fan of overpriced food, drinks, clubs, etc though.
