couple confirmed cases in Florida (tampa bay). nothing in my immediate area though one of my friends is a ER doctor over in the tampa area so I am a bit worried about them.

the stores around here are putting limits on how much hand sanitizer / soap you can buy
first case was reported in kentucky the other day, not far from here. i actually am a little worried because my dad is sick and has to travel to the town it was reported in somewhat often

You really think people can just call in and tell their employers they need to take 2 weeks off and not lose their jobs? Maybe if you’re not in retail/customer service and have been with the company for 20+ years and have vacation/sick days built up. Otherwise have fun job hunting.

My dudes, my comment wasn't to be taken very seriously.
Of course I understand that most people cant just take 2 weeks off. And that is fucking sad. I hope youre all healthy and wont become sick because it is a huge impact economically. I am super lucky to be working from home and not be impacted by this much.
My gf however does need to go out to work ans her only income right now is from teaching classes as a freelancer. She wont have any income either if she would go sick and would need to stay home for 2 weeks. So I do get it.
Didnt mean to step on anyones toes and I sincerely wish you the best.

It'll be interesting to see what will happen if this breaks out at any of the centers where I work, or in similar places like train yards. At my center alone it's somewhere between 1/3-1/2 of a mile of trailers full of freight from floor to ceiling/front to back that we send out each night on just one of three shifts, and we're far from the largest in the network. You can't just hit the off switch on something like that for a couple weeks. When we shut down for an eight hour period due to weather it takes about five days to get caught up. I'm guessing if this continues to spread the CDC will have to modify the quarantine protocol and give older folks and those with compromised immune systems the freedom to forgo work without penalty while taking for granted that a lot of working age adults are going to get sick but will ultimately be fine.
