The eclipse will peak at 2:43:05 pm EDT, when the moon obscures 79.7% of the sun.
I'll be sure to stay in the basement

View from lummo's cowtown Florida. Tried to take a photo using solar glasses over the camera lens but the aperture let too much light in for it to focus correctly. This was right after peak time here in lummo's cowtown around 3pm - the clouds moved in (it was clear prior to that) and partially obstructed the eclipse allowing it to be viewed with the naked eye.

i watched it from the top floor of the computer science building with a bunch of autistic freshmen
we were passing around a pair of glasses when one sexy leopard elevator walked up and was trying to look at the eclipse through her phone. we kept trying to offer her the glasses to look but she refused because she thought she would miss it if she looked away for a second
one hard-on bearer wouldn't quit singing "total eclipse of the heart"
another kid who had a speech impediment so bad i couldn't understand him told me a story that i didn't understand

i thought "98.2% obscured" meant it was going to get really super duper dark
it did not get really super duper dark
next time i am going camping right in the middle of the path of totality
for now i am annoyed

from what I heard it doesn't actually get 100% dark since some light is still visible (the corona). it ends up looking more like a 360 degree sunset with very dim twilight.

also, it was awesome how the temperature dropped about 10 degrees in the middle of the day for about an hour even though it was still bright and sunny here.
