doctor's advice

Post by cat hallucination »

my mom has

* Frequent urination

* Unusual thirst

* Extreme hunger

* Unusual weight loss

* Extreme fatigue and Irritability

all of these symptoms, plus pain in her foot, and she drinks and smokes and has slightly high blood pressure. diabetes runs in her family. the past few weeks she's been saying, "i need food, maybe that'll make me feel better." the past few days, she has been feeling faint and dizzy unless she eats. right now she feels faint and just went to lay down. i'm keeping a close eye on her.

she's feeling better though and i'm keeping a close eye on her. she had blood tests yesterday and the results are pending. i'm no expert but i'd bet she's developed diabetes. she told me a story about her brother who was feeling faint and dizzy one time and then shit hit the fan and he almost died. this was his first diabetes "attack".

i talked to a live chat room doctor and she didn't necessarily recommend that we call 911 right now. maybe i'm just a giddy hypochondriac who's watched too much house.

she's hysterical enough already, i don't want to worry her. i'm keeping a close eye. like i said, she's feeling better now and i'm with her constantly. if shit hits the fan, i'll pull the trigger.

its something. it was actually kinda cool. not just a chat room like this, it was an official diabetes website thing so i'll bet she's qualified.

Unless you've comlpetely made this up, she needs to see a doctor.

I could elaborate on this and call you an idiot, but I'm sticking with:

no this is real. and i'm not "emergency"-worried. like i said, her test results are pending. but, what i'm really wondering is, besides the symptoms i've already described, what should i look for when "shit really hits the fan." i imagine extreme faintness and such. so far though, its passed.

like i said, blood tests are already pending, she conveniently had a routine check up yesterday. i'm just watching closely for an extreme emergency type attack like her brother had.

i know i know. she's feeling better now though and her blood tests are pending. i just don't want to blow things out of proportion if its not necessary. it will worry her, her personality is naive and hysterical. probably like me, which is probably why i'm so adamant about this situation in the first place.

Neither is an internet doctor.

She needs to see a "real life doctor".

I'm more interested to know if the trigger is on the shit or the fan. Frankly he has enough problems already without adding that to the list.

but right now, i'm with her, and you and skorpion and probably oinka and whatever other internet sources and even a real doctor on the phone are the best sources i've got. i just don't want to blow it out of proportion. and she's feeling better now. i sense that my concern has already made her worried. i just want to fucking know what i should further watch for, because only then will i call fucking 911, the ambulance, calling the ambulance operators out of their routine, bringing her to the emergency room, spiking our insurance rates, paying the whatchuma-callit that insurance companies require, using a doctor's time, for something that possibly isn't necessary RIGHT NOW. :necro:

no, you DON'T know what to look for, because as johnny motherfucking gleeso implied, the symptoms could be indicative of any number of conditions or problems. i am going to echo his sentiments here.

you're not a goddamn doctor, take her to see one.

hopefully nothing serious is wrong, it would be a shame if something terrible happened to your moms because of your stubbornness, misguided sense of confidence, and insistence that you're qualified to decide her condition.

no i'm not a moron. i kept a close eye on her and i did research and talked to people. she has shown these symptoms, but they are relatively mild. she is now feeling great, so the episode has passed. the main thing i was concerned with was if she really really got sick, like right away, like in need of immediate help right NOW! and it didn't happen. i can spot a good handful of symptoms related to diabetes as well as a doctor can. i clearly did. i know i'm not a doctor though. i can't treat her and do the blood tests and i'm not nearly as educated as them.

I'm not a republican, I'm a libertarian I don't see parties (there is no difference between democrats and republicans)

yah i get it. i don't know politics well, but i do know that the overall "attitude" of the democrat aims towards ending war which is superior to republicans. so no, they're not the same, especially considering the extreme opposition between people who identify with one of the said...say malcom x vs. rush limbaugh. huge difference and lots of conflict. even if its on a superficial level, they're not the same...maybe in practice they are because we all have to sacrifice our views to stay on the same page, but they are night and day different in so many ways. and there won't be a different "party" voted into power any time soon. so go ahead and vote libertarian and beef up the .5 percent.

i'm talking out of my ass of course. no hard feelings, i know you're more educated than me about the subject. but i lean towards the democratic party for my voting and we need to move past war. i'll betchya a hundred bucks there are psychopaths in terrorist countries who would love to nuke the us, so i understand our plight. but i think pushing for peace is always the better answer. republicans will not do that. its a vague assumption but pretty clear. look at bush. "i am a war president, i make decisions with war on my mind." :frown:

It should be obvious that, with the subject in question being the United States, my use of the pronoun 'we' would denote the relevant parties, being the tax paying citizens of the United States.

I am inclined to assume you knew that, however, and are attempting to make a point with the question, rather than sincerely asking the question. Just make your point.
my point is that neither you or I or anyone other than the "leadership" and the footsoldiers in this regime are responsible for what goes on. It's not good to share unearned guilt
Not that it makes much of a difference in the reality of it, but I would agree that some of us (myself included) are not directly responsible.
well "i'll" bust in and state the obvious. "we" is the united states government and everyone in the united states, including you and your precious comforts. and @ abzu, the debt is ours, so yes, we're paying for it.

*edit* just read abzu's post, so to chime in...
catdog, we stand a reasonably good chance of having to pay it back through taxes, eventually, yes. It is the national debt and, as such, the debt of the whole nation. However, we are not paying it back yet and there's always the possibility (even if the probability is low) that we won't.
