I've had two intruders in my network for months then last night what do you know?DAVES_LAPTOP fucking logs in.Who the fuck is Dave?I think to myself.

Are these cocksuckers getting free internet off me?And are they using my bandwidth?Three maggots is alot of fucking bandwidth if so.



More importantly how the fuck do I stop these cunts from intruding?



I've thought of completely reinstalling everything,modem and all.Would this even make a difference or would said fuckheads just leach into my glorious internet again just as easy as before?



I understand maybe they arn't doing this delibratly but it worries me abit.Don't want my information stolen!

Put a fucking password on the WLAN!

Do you know how to configure your router? Go to 192.168.1.1 in your webbrowser(user/pass is probably default if you've never done this before). Look for a "wireless security" tab. Use the highest security method that your router has(probably WPA2 with AES encryption) and (very important) look for an option called MAC Address Filtering and set it to "allow only these MAC addresses" and type in the MAC addresses of your PCs/laptops. You can find the MAC address(or "Physical Location") of your network cards by typing /ipconfig -all in the command prompt(Start>Run>type in cmd).



That last step is probably even more effective than a super-hard password, as even if they crack your password, your router won't allow connections from any device that isn't specifically white-listed. Not all routers have that option though, so you should still use a difficult password regardless.



Once you set all that up, you can also disable "SSID Broadcasting", so your wireless network won't be visible to anyone(including yourself, but if you've got your laptop configured to connect automatically, it won't matter that its hidden).



If that fails you can just change the name of your network to "You gonna get raped, Dave".

Some routers even have a Wizard feature that will walk you through the setup and security. My did that and my internet is very secure now.

It is not just in chemistry that you are incompetent, I see. The basic set up instructions that come with each and every router sold tell you in the simplest of terms how to secure your damn WLAN.

I actually knew diddly squarsh about wifi until about 2-3 weeks ago, when I got a router. Usually when I buy something, I like to learn how to use it to get the most out of it.

try 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.0.1

keep firewall up and antivirus on at all times



what kind of router do you have? there are tutorials all over the net, it's as simple as typing the name of the router into google and secure network

Search your router's manual for the default address then. A software firewall is not going to do anything to protect from intruders on your wifi, and in fact if you're behind a router, you probably don't need a software firewall at all.
