News for Akane: "Thinner people better for planet"

Here's yet another reason to stay in shape: Thinner people contribute less to global warming, according to a new study.

More than 1 billion adults worldwide are overweight, and about 300 million are obese.

Researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine published a study showing that, because of food production and transportation factors, a population of heavier people contributes more harmful gases to the planet than a population of thin people.

Given that it takes more energy to move heavier people, transportation of heavier people requires more fuel, which creates more greenhouse gas emissions, the authors write.

apart from the few people who have genuine reasons for being overweight, decadence and greed is to blame

I lost some weight and made the shift into the "normal" bmi range a few months ago, I feel relieved of my responsibilities with the environment. :god:

Yeah the bmi doesn't take into account frame structure and muscle(you're a weightlifter too right?). I haven't been visibly overweight for about 2-3 years but I've always been in that category.

I let my self go horribly the last two years. I'm aiming to get back into shape now.

It's lame because I never ate horribly. I eat pretty healthy. I just sat on my fucking ass for two years.

Time to bust out the mountain bike again. :xx:

awesome dude, are you dirt biking (off-road) or on the road? I did a lot of dirt biking some years ago... I really wanna pick it up again but I'm gonna have to buy a good mountain bike first.

I am planning on going mountain biking this summer. I was going to go to Red River Gorge about 20-30 miles from here. Yesterday, a hiker stumbled upon skeletal remains of a local woman who has been missing from here for awhile now.. :oldryan:

I've mostly just been on the road with it but there are some bike trails through the woods I want to fuck around on. I need to do some work on my bike first. Maybe I'll bust it out this weekend and tune it up.

What would genuine reasons be? Medication? Age? Some weird medical condition? There are lots of factors, I know what you meant but I would say more than just a few people who have reasons to be overweight.
