Tina Fey is a pretty lady, I don't get why they try to make her out to be unattractive.

as best as i can gather it's because a) she never felt attractive growing up and b) she is the rare person who has gotten prettier with age

i agree though. at several points throughout the series i thought "there is no goddamn way this world doesn't think she is incredibly attractive"

I have been loving this show for the past few weeks on Netflix :santa: It took a while to get used to because I was expecting the plots to be very dense and end with an awesome punchline the way Seinfeld did, but they usually don't. Instead it's the cartoonishness of the characters (except the staff writers) that cracks me up. A bit more like Arrested Development, I guess. Good show.

In an interview I heard she basically said that she didn't want to have to get into steamy love scenes with guys all the time, so she deliberately wrote the character that way, and then it became kind of a running joke. The joke was kind of refreshing to see play out so no complaints here :santa:

i can get behind that :santa:

but since when does arrested development not have dense plots

aye they are a shit ton of in-jokes and what not in arrested development

but that's meta stuff. strictly plot-wise there are always about six things going on

I never said AD didn't have dense plots, because it obviously did (in my mind it was the story arcs that were notable). What I meant is that instead of painstaking episode after episode of Gammill and Pross-type mazes of plot that all intersect at the end, you get pockets of characters imploding or plotting against one another for no apparent reason. It's symmetrical insanity, but an entirely different kind.

that's certainly true. 30 rock is most interested in the zinger, whereas AD is all about the elaborate setup and seinfeld worships the bit

on a related note, i need to revisit the glory years of seinfeld. it's been almost a decade since i last watched that show

I actually kind of like having not seen Seinfeld in so long, because now when I do I'm usually bowled over with stuff I had forgotten about. Same thing happens with periods of the Simpsons every now and then.
