Some drugs might help creativity in some people in some situations. Might not.

i hear music very deeply with pot.

whenever i smoked pot it didn't really make me feel creative, it made me feel goofy and unfocused. i can't even remember ever playing guitar while under the influence.



i think it's best to be creative sober, if you need drugs to help you then maybe you're really not that creative at all?

ill admit, ive come up with a few cool things while on pills but ive come up with a lot more while sober.



people that say they need drugs to be creative are just using that as an excuse.

It really depends if you're one who gets "in a zone".I stopped smoking pot so much and now when I come home stoned and plug the guitar in it's great for working on technique shit...Sometimes anyway.I don't really think you need any substances to write good music but we all get in ruts at times,a substance can often recharge my batteries.Everyone is different though.

i'm kinda with you here mabb, i'm sure you could at least concur that marijuana can provide quite the heightened perceptions. and it is possible to focus with it, but honestly it can create some problems too.

The problem is even if I think of all that cool stuff, I'm having difficulty executing those ideas because I'm too baked to do anything.

yah no shit. hence the learning problems associated with pot use. but it is possible. there are tons of musicians who are open about their drug use. i read an interview with trey where he said that his writing process incorporates pot. maybe an assumption, but i'm sure i read it.

Alot of people simply can't keep their thoughts on one thing when stoned.For others it is different.

right, but i know for a fact that its possible to find a special mode of focus with the stuff. however, when its not there, and your dependent on it. uh oh

im sure he does more than smoke pot

drugs and creativity are different for everyone. for me as a drummer being sober is better for working on technique, but for jamming and playing with people, being high and/or drunk is the best. for playing live it helps me cut out any anxiety i might have.

i agree. thats why writing down your ideas wins

yah about the technique bit i agree. pot helps with the sensitivity to the colour of the sound, but not so much with the actual work and internalization and memorization. and, it can even cause a difficult split between the two. i know its manageable with hard work though.
