Bad idea?

Bad idea.
1) for a man who killed, raped thousands children or women for example, death could be only a speed and good way to leave this world. A bad life is the worst of the penalties. Eternal jail, treated as a worm is the best thing.
2) A lot of innocents died for death penalty. Is not a sure way
3) None in this world has the right to decide the end of life of another man.

this is m.op.

I'm all for the Death Penalty.
Rotting in jail is a good option too but some people just need to die.

bad idea until someone comes up with a 100% accurate, foolproof way of determining guilt. then i'd be all for it

I think the jury system idea is awful. For a number of reasons. But even if there was a better way, which reliably determined guilt, I don't think I'd be okay with it.

Human life is precious, and I'd rather see a guilty man go free than an innocent man get the death penalty. That being said, there are just certain crimes that are so atrocious, that I feel the death penalty is a proper means of conveying public disgust.

I'm flexible with this stuff. People who've committed heinous crimes have forfeited their rights and can be made to do forced labor to pay back society. But exceptionally dangerous people would bite the bullet.

This is a good idea. I am all for forced labor in the correctional system.

I don't know I mean we so can't actually punish people, I mean we have to give people incentive to commit crimes by giving prisoners TV access and giving them access to any book they want and free radio access.
I agree the mind should be stimulated otherwise prisoners might go insane so alotted radio time and occasional TV access would be fine but we need to take a step back and make prisons actual you know prisons.
On the death penalty: It's too good for some crimes

horrible through and through. postmortem exonerations are bad enough, factor in the cost for any death sentence, legitimate or otherwise, and it's just bad business all around.
DP is for porn and fightan games, get it out of the justice system asap :(

Not just the death penalty, but the desire to punish criminals is barbaric and dumb.
What people really need to understand is that bad people don't just appear out of some magical vacuum. It takes a history of violence, abuse, poverty, etc. to push someone to commit crimes. Justice needs to be modeled after that, not after empty vengeance.

If a person's criminal behavior is attributable to a fucked up childhood, some demonstrable mental disorder, etc. then it would be enough to have them under therapy but definitely kept far away from society permanently, unless a large panel of experts can determine the criminal is fully rehabilitated. If it's a recurring criminal with sane thinking faculties, I don't think rehabilitation would be effective or worth the trouble.

Rehabilitated? It's a stupid made up word so that people like you can feel important and wear a suit.

I don't really have much regard for full rehabilitation, because once a certain line is crossed you don't get to go back to being a good person.
Rather, these people should be studied so their numbers can be reduced in future generations.
