"China's top 500 companies outperformed their US counterparts for the first time last year, a survey conducted by a business group has revealed, as the financial crisis wreaked havoc in the United States.



Net profits at the nation's highest-performing firms totalled 171 billion dollars in 2008, compared to 99 billion dollars for the US firms, according to the survey by the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC).



The top 34 firms on the list are state-owne.d entities."

So much for the theory that state controlled firms are inherently inefficient.

that's interesting but I'd like to know how much is actually spent on labor and working conditions vs. us firms.

Human rights are more important than profit.



Value of the individual > only seeing the whole. When you value the individual inevitably the whole profits. The US is forgeting that hence the economic fall it's taken along with the rest of the west.

Good for them the profits should lead to improved working conditions, they have fewer reasons to reject worker demands.
