I like MPI. OpenMP can kiss my ass. It lures you in with intuitive function calls, but it is totally FUCKING WORTHLESS for initial exploration into high performance computing. Just learn MPI. And learn Fortran. Learning C/C++ is optional, but do it if you don't want to be a total dumbass.
