i vote genesis, for the games released on both, i prefer genesis versions
especially mortal kombat, ABACABB !
lots of great side scrolling space ship shooters, as well my favorite contra next to the original for NES and blaster master 2, neither of which were released for snes

anyone who answers genesis is wrong, snes is vastly superior in every way possible

opinions aren't wrong
superior hardware does not = superior
i do like snes, but come on, can't think of games that aren't mario, starfox, or related that make said worth owning over genesis

I had Strider on Mega Drive, could never get off this level in like a space station with a shitload of gravity flips and stuff, what a hard game.

oh my
just going off the top of my head, sticking to US releases
castlevania 4
final fantasy 2(4) & 3(6)
contra 3
gradius 3
secret of mana
chrono trigger
megaman 7, X, X2, X3
zelda: link to the past
super ghouls & ghosts
super punch out
super metroid
earthbound
actraiser
f-zero
TMNT4
killer instinct
ogre battle
donkey kong country 1/2/3
this ain't a matter of opinions, this is WAR. it was nintendo versus sega, us versus them in the early gloryhole era , and it still is today!

always preferred hard corps to contra 3, but still dig said
i enjoy most of those games, but never was a FF or killer instinct fan
as much as i enjoy gradius, i think i prefer thunder force III and lightening force
castlevania 4 and bloodlines were both good, hard decision for i
tis hard for me to be in a war about this since i own and play both systems
on a side note about genesis off the top of my head, there are more that i forgot:
fire shark
dynamite headdy
gunstar heroes
M.U.S.H.A.
comix zone
streets of rage 1-3
vectorman series
xmen 1 & 2
golden axe
truxton
herzog zwei
out run
super hang on
arrow flash
air buster
afterburner II

Fucking awesome game. Gunstar heroes was a pretty rad Metal Slug clone game too.
I'd have to say Genesis/MD as I never owned a snes, but the snes had some great games and gfx too.
My fav games on it:
Shinobi 3
All the Sonic games.
Comix Zone
Streets of Rage series.
Vectorman
Phantasy Star II
I had a model 2 genesis and I remember having bought the 32X expansion for it for 30$ when they were phasing out, it came with Virtua Fighter, good times. I also had Knuckles Chaotix and Doom on that system.

I voted Megadrive after a long hard think. I had one when I was a nipper and didn't really play a SNES until emulation came about. I admit SNES is the superior system and does indeed have some killer games and hidden RPG gems etc, but the Megadrive is where my heart is... my fav games: Streets of Rage 2 (the best side scrolling beat em up of all time), Ghouls and Ghosts, Splatterhouse 2, Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic 3 in the top (my best acheivement as a kid was getting 'Hyper Sonic'), Dynamite Heddy and Ristar.
SOR2 > Final Fight
