health maintenance

Post by shadowalk »

As we're all old farts here, do any of you diligently watch (or have started to watch) for things like calorie intake, cholesterol or pre-diabetes signs or any of that stuff? Do you take any special medication and/or vitamins?

Multivitamins daily, drink more water than anything else, barely any fast food and no frozen junk, just the basics

High cholesterol and diabetes here.

I have lost weight though, but made little to no difference.

after getting absolutely trashed in April / May for a variety of reasons I have decided to take a break from drinking and also trying to hit the gym up more often. I got kind of lax on working out and felt my energy levels severely drop so need to get back into the routine.

i don't stress about calorie intake so much currently, i restricted heavily last year while i was getting in shape/losing weight etc, but my metabolism is juiced enough now that i don't have to really watch what i eat as long as i maintain my usual activity levels (which i do). same as these dudes, very little in the way of processed foods etc, i make everything i can from scratch and generally don't do takeout more than once a week.

i have been drinking a bit more the last couple months than i did most of the last year but still a fraction compared to what i used to. had high blood pressure, had to take medication for a couple years, but that's well under control now. i will find out about cholesterol and all that jazz in a monthish. but no problems historically

My chief struggle is with back pain. Weight wise, I'm where I should be, maybe a little on the thinner side.

If you want to get your drinking under control, one thing you could do that worked for me is, set a day in the week that you'll drink, and then abstain the rest of the week. Say, Friday or Saturday, and allow yourself 3 beers. Put yourself in that habit and routine to begin the process of weaning yourself away from it.

been having some problems with the lower extremities which has kept my daily mileage lower than i'd like. accordingly i have gained about 2.5 pounds back and i am starting to panic about getting fat again. but my glucose and lipid panels all came back in normal healthy ranges so that's nice
