But all black. That was the car my grandmother had until 99 or 00. My grandfather had a red pickup when I was a kid but I'll be damned if I remember what it was.

My first car :santa:

Too many to mention but I'll mention some of the most memorable ones.

Image

1st gen Mitsubishi Pajero - this was my old man's daily driver

Image

Mid-gloryhole era Nissan Vanette. This was particularly memorable because there was a cooler where you can put your drinks.

Image

Last but not least, '91 Toyota Crown Super Saloon. My old man had one and he gave it to me when I was just starting to drive and that was my main ride towards the end of my college years. All the headaches of old cars, busted A/C, tranny problems, high gas consumption...god I miss that car. This one looks just like the one I had. :tear:

nice stories in this thread

next one for me is i think my mum's first car, not sure. but the first one i remember from when i was like 5-6yrs old. australia used to have a lot of old school renaults and peugeots that were hitting their last legs in the 1990s, then they stopped selling them here much for a while until the 2010s, now they are more like prestige cars.

renault 12

Image

this car had a hole in the floor and the heating was bust, i used to sit under a blanket if the drive was long :santa:

grandma had a Mercedes station wagon that ran on diesel - you could hear the thing coming down the street. not sure of the exact year but it looked kind of like this.

hm, my grandparents had a navy blue chevy celebrity. eventually became my oldest brother's car, once he moved off to college my older brother used to tool around in it in the field when my parents weren't around. other grandparents had oldsmobiles mainly but i can't remember the models.

my dad got a bonneville in '87 and that's what he drove for the rest of his life; he had a couple gloryhole era models but i can't remember the exact years anymore. '93 and '98 maybe? first one was grey, the rest were all black. the last ones were from '01 and '05. i took over the '01 SSE in like 2009 and my brother took over the '05 SSEI at the same time (he became permanently incapacitated and my olds died; before that my brother had the '01 and my dad the '05). anyway i drove that until 2016!

my mom had a taurus wagon from the late 80s until getting a 5-speed escort coupe in like 1998, then some mazda or another in the mid-late aughts i think and that was it

don't remember what my parents had before those. i think there was a mid-80s celebrity, and there was an early 80s or late 70s thunderbird that existed once too, but i only vaguely remember it being decommissioned sitting between the poolyard fence and the woods

this is the car i know best from growing up, mum had it from like 1997-2003ish, green colour. we used to call it the tank. she drove me all over, picked me up from judo, many kilometres were put into this car. and it always had munchkins the ancient kelpie cross in the back

That looks so much like the 1st gen Toyota Corona my dad used to have which he got from my grandfather. Perhaps the chassis is the same, hmm..

Also remember these? i’m assuming the Yanks don’t know about this. 80s Ford Cortina...we had one in white.

i remember cortinas. my second car was a ford corsair ghia which was a nissan pintara basically just pimped a bit.

Image

you want to know something fucking weird ... that picture there is my car. i just googled "ford corsair ghia 1989" and the wikipedia page for that model came up - with that photo. that is a photo of my car in 2015 when i would sometimes drive to work in an office in hawthorn. i would park the car beside that exact fence. so one day someone took a photo of my car and put it on wikipedia because it was a good example of the make, i guess. fuck man, that means my car is going to be preserved potentially for posterity on wikipedia. love it
