Man with broom asks woman if she's ready to die

Boyfriend armed with broom: Are you ready to die?



SHALIMAR -- vice squad responded to the home of a couple who has lived together for 22 years after the man reportedly threatened the woman with a broom.



The woman told the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputy that her boyfriend had been drinking all day and when she took away his bottle of vodka, he threw food around the house and at her.



Allen Thomas Brown, who is 41, was charged with domestic assault, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting without violence, according to his arrest report.



She got a broom from the kitchen to clean up the food, but while she was sweeping the floor, he grabbed the broom. She went to call 911 and Brown stood right behind her, broom in hand, and asked her if she was ready to die.



He tried to take the phone away from her and "touched her face," which she believed was accidental, according to his arrest report.



He then put the broom on the ground and sat on the couch, calling her names.



The woman told the deputy she was in fear for her life during the incident in the kitchen.



Brown denied that it had happened, however he admitted to consuming alcohol all day.



When deputies tried to arrest Brown, he put his hands on his chest and leaned over a picket fence, which made it difficult to handcuff him.



He also dropped to his knees and refused to walk to the patrol car.



Deputies carried him to the car and got him in the back seat. However, when they tried to get his feet inside the vehicle, he pulled his feet to the chest and kicked one of the deputies in the groin.
